Gyro Stabilization For Smaller Boats

Until now, owners of smaller boats put up with a rolling vessel in rough weather, or simply stayed ashore. With the recent launch of the state-of-the-art Seakeeper 5, they can now enjoy the comfort and safety of gyro stabilization.

The scaled Seakeeper 5 reduces resonant boat roll by up to 90 percent on boats 30 feet to 50 feet. The unit uses a built-in computer to actively control a powerful gyro. Spinning in a vacuum environment, it produces powerful righting forces to stabilize the boat.

Nothing projects outside of the hull to diminish a vessel's performance. Weighing only 790 pounds, the unit has a retail cost of $29,900.

Adapter Corrects Electrical Mismatches

Dangerous situations can occur when water and electricity meet, especially when mismatched electrical systems are involved. Hubbell Marine's YQ230 Intelligent Y Adapter is ideal for when a boat owner with a 50A, 125/250V requirement docks in a marina that provides a 30A, 125V. The YQ230 helps correct this incompatibility.

This adapter combines two oppositely-phased 30A, 125V receptacles to provide 30A, 125/250V of power. It features a three-pole contactor that breaks both hots and neutrals, preventing a live plug when not engaged. This helps ensure adequate voltage and proper wiring exists at the marina before plugging in.

Hubbell Marine's YQ230 Intelligent Y Adapter has a price of around $400.
