Maritimo M51 Luxury Motoryacht
It is another typical summer morning in San Francisco Bay as we gather at Silver Seas Yachts dock at Clipper Yacht Harbor. At 1000 the finger fog is still pouring over the hills to the west, the wind is gusting to 15 knots in the harbor and the thermometer is still below 65 degrees.     Read more.

Princess V48 Sport Yacht
First impressions are very important, and my first impression of the Princess V48, nestled between a 2017 Tiara 53 Coupe and a 2017 Cruisers 48 Cantius, was that she appeared large for a 48.     Read more.

44 Coupe Sport Yacht
My first experience with Tiara Yachts was last summer when I delivered a vintage 5200 Grand Salon from San Diego to San Francisco. That particular vessel was in A-1 condition (see http://yachtsmanmagazine.com/articles/lesson_dec2015.html for a definition of A-1). What impressed me most with the 5200 was the open-ocean ride that one would expect from a serious sportfisher.     Read more.

630 Sport Yacht
When I get an opportunity to write a boat review on a new yacht, I usually have a few hours to run the boat around and get a feel for the performance, and then tour the boat dockside.     Read more.

350 Sport Cruiser
Last summer the generous folks at Sun Country Marine in Oakland lent Ty Mellott and myself two brand new Sea Ray Sundancer's to put through the paces on San Francisco Bay.     Read more.

OK, here we go again. Same drill: find a new boat dealer willing to lend us a million dollars of new boats that we can use for a day, grab one of Yachtsman's top photographers, take the new boats out and put them through their paces on San Francisco Bay.     Read more.

In 2012, Marlow Yachts, the builder of multimillion-dollar luxury motoryachts, purchased the assets of Hunter Mainship and continued the production of Hunter sailboats in the Florida factory. In 2013, the first of a new design Mainship was introduced as the Marlow Mainship Pilot 32.     Read more.

430 Sports Coupe
Last year, I reviewed a couple of Cruisers Yachts for Silver Seas Yachts and was more than pleased to be told that in December I again would have the opportunity to step foot on two other Cruisers Yachts: the new 2014 430 Sports Coupe and the 48 Cantius. Who would have guessed that the weather would still be nice in early December?     Read more.

Gran Turismo 38
A few months ago when we wrapped up our day of sea trialing the new Beneteau Barracuda 9 in Point Richmond, I was told that Passage Yachts had received a new Beneteau Gran Turismo 38 and Gran Turismo 44 and that they were in the yard being commissioned, and that if I?m interested, they would be available in a few months for a sea trial.     Read more.

350 Express
A few months ago when I did a sea trial and article on the new Cantius 41 from Cruisers Yachts, the photo boat that we used was the new Cruisers Yachts 350 Express. That article appeared in the January 2013 issue.     Read more.

Second to teaching boat handling, I have the most fun doing sea trials on new and used boats, especially when the boats have new and innovative features that make them not only unique but offer the owner a good value. Of course, the fact that the boat has a top speed of 45 knots doesn’t hurt either.     Read more.

41 Cantius
Late fall boating weather can be unpredictable and we can have storms and high winds one day and the next it can be sunny and 60 degrees, but sometimes you get lucky. Lucky that the folks at Cruisers Yachts have been busy these past few years designing and building all new boats.     Read more.

David McDonald has ushered into the Delta a new era of yachting. He cruised up the San Joaquin River into the Downtown Stockton Marina aboard his beautiful 163-foot, James Bond-themed megayacht Casino Royale on the morning of March 21. His people had advised us a few weeks back of his plans to come up the river and this writer as well as many others were eagerly awaiting his arrival.     Read more.

Grand Banks 47 Heritage EU
I have to admit I don’t do a lot of research before doing a sea trial. Well, actually, I don’t do any before and just a little afterward. So when I received a call that John Baier, president of Oceanic Yachts in Sausalito, had a new Grand Banks 47 Heritage EU at the sales dock that we could take out for a sea trial, my immediate thought was, great, we will go motor around the Bay for a few hours at 7.5 knots and enjoy some quiet time.     Read more.

Having slightly over 40 years experience in the yacht sales business and delivering more than 100 motor-yachts in Northern California, Richard Bolands passion for the new 55-foot Activa Motoryacht is off the chart. Californian 55 Long Range Cruiser
Given the volatility of oil prices these days, the boating community must think in terms of fuel economy. Unfortunately, very few manufacturers are ready or willing to meet the economical priorities of their customers. That cant be said for Californian Yachts of Perris, California.     Read more.

MasterCraft 300
The new MasterCraft 300 is nothing less than another work of brilliance from the company that has become synonymous with watersports. For the past seven years, MasterCraft has taken a radical departure from its basic roots by offering products other than boats associated with water skiing and wakeboarding. Nonetheless, nobody expected MasterCrafts latest model to be a 12,500-lb. Cruiser. Makes one wonder what their next offering will be in the future?     Read more.
